Welcome to Class 1's page
Teacher: Miss Uglow
Support staff: Miss Kitto (Monday-Wednesday)
Mrs Stevens (Thursday-Friday)
PE days: During Summer term, Class 1 will have their PE sessions on a Wednesday and a Friday. As always please can children come to school wearing their PE kit on those days.
Help at home:
Each week on a Friday, children will bring home a new reading book. This will be the book that they focussed on in their 'guided reading' sessions. They will have already had three sessions on this book, so this is an opportunity for them to celebrate their reading at home.
Children will also bring home a book each week that they will have chosen from our school library. These will be changed on a Thursday. Please ensure library books come back into school each Thursday, so children can change it.
Just like Autumn and Spring term, children will continue to bring home 'tricky words' that we have learnt in Phonics. These are words that are not decodable yet for year Receptions- it would be fantastic if they can be practised at home so children feel confident at recognising them.
Summer term:
During the first half term, our Reception children will be exploring the exciting world of dinosaurs! This topic is designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and a love of learning through play and discovery.
What will we be learning?
We’ll be finding out about different types of dinosaurs, when they lived, and how we know they existed. The children will explore fossils, habitats, and even become little palaeontologists.
Children will enjoy dinosaur stories and begin writing their own labels, captions, and simple fact books. We will learn new vocabulary; extinct, fossil, carnivore, herbivore. As a class, we will be counting dinosaur eggs, comparing sizes and sorting dinosaurs in different ways. Children will learn about the past, explore how fossils are formed and think about how the world has changed.
We are looking forward to some amazing learning this half term!
