Sport
We recognise that sport is a crucial part in every child's personal development, right through from practising gross motor skills in the Early Years, to learning the importance of sportsmanship in KS2. We have mapped out our curriculum to ensure children learn a skills through a variety of sports, and build on these skills year by year.
Our children participate in sport and physical exercise through:
- curriculum lessons and programmes
- lunchtime and after school clubs - volleyball, athletics, Boccia, hockey, Ninja Warriors, netball, football, cricket, tennis
- inter-school fixtures, festivals and tournaments - Sports day, football matches
- intra-school house competitions - swimming galas, tennis tournaments, netball matches, football matches, athletics meets, cricket festivals, cross country events
- entry to events organised by local sports clubs
- visiting sports coaches - LJD coaching, Atlantic Racquet Centre, ProStrike events, Sports for Champions
We are proud to have been awarded the Bronze School Games Mark in 2024. This is awarded by School Games.
We are a 'Daily Mile' School. Each child takes part in a daily 15 minute running activity. To find out more about what this means, please see the document below.
In 2021 we succeeded in securing grant funding for a new running track to enable us to carry out our Daily Mile whatever the weather.
