A very warm welcome to Class 2! We are looking forward to a happy and exciting year filled with learning, laughter and new adventures.

P.E Days
Wednesdays and Thursdays
Please send your child to school dressed and ready for P.E. on these days. Children should wear:
- Black shorts or jogging bottoms
- A green polo shirt
- Trainers or plimsolls
Please make sure that all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Homework
Homework will be sent home every Wednesday, along with a sheet explaining the activities for that week. It will usually include reading, spelling and maths and should be returned to school by the following Wednesday.
Please help your child to practise their spellings in preparation for our spelling test each Thursday. We would also love you to write in their reading diary every time they read at home.

Reading Rainbow
Every time your child reads at home and it is recorded in their reading diary, they will receive a sticker in school.
For every three times they read during a week, they will move down a colour on our Reading Rainbow, getting closer to the pot of gold—and a prize! They will also receive a raffle ticket for our termly prize draw.
Each week, your child will bring home a reading book matched to their current phonics or reading level, as well as a library book. They do not need to finish a whole book every time they read—a page or two is absolutely fine.
Reading can take many different forms, and it does not always have to be a school reading book. Your child could:
- Read a magazine, library book or favourite book from home
- Share a bedtime story with an adult
- Read to a younger sibling or friend
- Read signs, posters or menus while out and about
It all counts, and most importantly, we want children to enjoy reading!
Please make sure your child brings their reading book and reading diary to school every day.
Everyday Essentials
Please send your child to school with a named water bottle every day. Water bottles and book bags will be kept on the pegs in the corridor, and children will be able to access their drinks whenever they need them.
When children take off their jumpers, they will place them in a basket in the classroom. Please make sure your child’s jumper is clearly named, as this makes it much easier for them to find the right one when they need it again.
Children are provided with a fruit snack at break time. If they prefer, they may bring their own fresh or dried fruit snack from home.
