Welcome to Class 5's page!
Class 5
Welcome back everybody; I hope you all had a lovely summer holiday! Me and Mrs Toase are both very excited about welcoming you all you our year 6 class this year. Our history unit for this half term is Black History, with a focus on Martin Luther-King. We will look at the civil rights movement which he started, and we will consider his legacy today. Our geography unit for the second half term will be Mapping. This will be a local study of Hartland and the surrounding area. In science for the first half term we will be studying animals including humans. For the second half term, we will be studying electricity. Below, the knowledge organisers summarises what we will be learning about.
We have 1 PE afternoon this term. This will be on a Friday for us. As usual, children will come into school in their PE kits please.
Homework will be set on Fridays, and it will include spellings, some maths questions based on the week's learning and reading. We are expecting each child to read 8 times over a two week period, and these need to be recorded in their diaries. Homework is due on Wednesday, with the spelling and times tables test taking place on the Friday of that week.
We look forward to seeing you in school for the start of a brand new school year.
Mr Teuchmann and Mrs Toase
