Class 5
Welcome back everybody; I hope you all had a lovely Christmas holiday with your friends and families! Me and Mrs Toase are both very excited about welcoming you all back for the spring term. Our history unit for this half term is Benin – builders and makers. We will look at the Edo people, and consider how they created an empire and famous city, which ruled large parts of Africa for many years. Our geography unit for the second half term will be about the impact of humans on polar environments. We will be studying ice biomes to investigate how global warming has impacted our world. In science for the first half term we will be studying evolution and inheritance. For the second half term, we will be studying living things and their habitats. Below, the knowledge organisers summarises what we will be learning about.
We have 2 PE afternoons this term. These will be on Thursday and Friday for us. As usual, children will come into school in their PE kits please.
Homework will be set on Fridays, and it will include spellings, some maths questions based on the week's learning and reading. We are expecting each child to read 8 times over a two week period, and these need to be recorded in their diaries. Homework is due on Wednesday, with the spelling and times tables test taking place on the Friday of that week.
We look forward to seeing all of you back in school for the new term!
